Not Sure About Waxing?
It’s completely normal to feel a bit nervous. I’m here to help you feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. Here are some commonly ask questions that can hopefully help ease any unsure feelings you may have.
So you wax everything? Like everything...?
Yup! I offer a variety of esthetic services, with my main focus being full body head-to-toe waxing and everything in between. When I say I can wax it all, I can wax it ALL. I am proud to be an inclusive service provider and able to service anyone and every body.
Absolutely no explanations needed, and no judgment given. Just smooth skin, fun vibes and good conversation!
Does it hurt? Be real with me!
Pain is such a relative thing as every persons tolerances vary. Yes, there is an element of pain, BUT I promise it is not nearly as bad as you think! People tend to build things up in their head and generally turn out better than we expected. If you’re concerned about the pain some clients find that taking you choice of pain reliever about 30 minutes before their service helps.
The first time is the spiciest, but guess what? Over time with regular waxing it does get easier! The hair comes back finer, thins out, and growth slows down so you can go a little longer in between appointments.
Waxing is all about consistency. If you’re consistently shaving every few days, why not ditch the razor? Give waxing a try and wax once a month.
How long should hair be? What if it's too long? Should I trim?!
Your hair should be between 1/4-1/2 inch long, think a long grain of rice. This is roughly 2-3 weeks after shaving, if it’s your first time or it’s been a while and you’re just getting back into it, a little closer to that 1/2 inch mark is preferred for smoother results.
DO NOT TRIM – I’d much rather it be on the long side, I find when people trim they tend to trim too short, which means there could be extra hair left behind after your wax. If you’re looking to say goodbye to a full bush I’ve got the tools to trim if I feel it’s necessary.
How often would I be in? What if something comes up? Should I shave?
Generally most people are in every 4-6 weeks depending on the areas waxed as the growth cycles vary throughout your body. If it’s your first time or it’s been a while you’ll probably be back closer to the 3 or 4 week mark because we haven’t disrupted the growth cycle at the start. After we’ve had a few appointments I generally start people off at 5 week intervals, I find this to be a great sweet spot to gauge when the best time to wax your hair is.
Try your best NOT to shave in between appointments as this will take you a few steps back in your waxing journey. But I understand that life just happens, things come up and you gotta do what you gotta do. I’ll be here waiting once the hair is long enough again.
What kind of wax do you use?
Great question! I’ve been at this for nearly a decade, and I’ve tried a lot of waxes. I have to say I am a soft wax girl at heart. This means once I prep your skin, I’ll apply the wax with an applicator and remove the wax with a strip. Soft wax is “stickier” and does perform a light exfoliation on the skin by removing that superficial layer of dead skin along with the hair, leaving you feeling extra smooth.
I can do hard if requested, I’ve done some Advanced Brazilian Training with Very Best Me Esthetics, my confidence and technique with hard wax have both improved greatly since, so if you have a preference let me know!
Can I get waxed on my period?
If you menstruate you can absolutely get waxed during your cycle. Just keep in mind with all the hormones that are raging through your body it can make your skin extra sensitive, so waxing may be more painful than usual. If you’re fairly regular, it might be best to plan around it if you can, but real talk? They have a mind of their own.
As predictable as they can be for most people sometimes they show up a lil early or are fashionably late with no regard for our plans! If your appointment and your happen period line up you are welcome to reschedule, but please keep my policies in mind when doing so.
I personally do not mind waxing you on you cycle, not one bit. All I ask is if if you can use a menstrual cup/disk, or pop a tampon in a bit before your appointment to keep things hygienic, there’s a bathroom just outside my door and if you need a tampon, I always have extras! Just ask.
I'm pregnant... Can I still get waxed?
First of all congrats! And second, YES! You definitely can get waxed while pregnant. Your skin may be more sensitive then usual because of all the hormonal fluctuations that happen but waxing while pregnant is completely safe. I’ve had clients with me through multiple pregnancies and have waxed some up to and even past their due dates! My bed is even able to sit you up a bit so you’re not totally flat on your back to keep you feeling as comfortable as possible.
If you ever have concerns you can always ask me or bring your concerns up to your doctor.
What if I feel awkward? Nervous... or self conscious?
Totally normal. A new experience is just that, something new.
But trust me, I do this everyday, there’s nothing I haven’t seen. Your body is completely normal, society’s standards aren’t.
My job is help you feel comfortable and get you looking and feeling your best self. By the time were done, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it out sooner!
I'm plus sized... Can you really handle my services?
I know it can be hard to find a provider that can do a service well on curvier clients. I have many plus sized clients that are more then satisfied with my services. Unfortunately, I’ve heard some truly terrible stories from clients about past experiences, but I am completely confident in my abilities to get you feeling your best.
I picked my bed because it’s a few inches wider then your average treatment bed, it’s got extra padding, and can hold upwards of 500lbs. All you have to do is show up.
Preparing For Your Service
You’ve booked in, hurray! Here are some tips to get ready and make sure you get the most out of your service:
- Let It Grow – make sure hair is at least 1/4-1/2 in long. This is roughly 2-3 weeks after shaving.
- Exfoliate – the night before your wax, this helps to “loosen up” the hair and remove excess dead skin.
- Stay Hydrated – moisturized skin = better waxing results, but skip heavy lotions or oils the day of your wax.
- Avoid Caffeine or Alcohol – you can still have your morning coffee, but alcohol or caffeine right before your appointment can make the skin more sensitive.
- Wear Loose Clothing – opt for comfort, tight clothing can cause friction and irritate the freshly waxed skin.
- Take an OTC Pain Reliever – if your worried about discomfort you can always take your choice of pain reliever (eg Tylenol) about 30 minutes prior.
That’s it! A little prep and go a long way in getting the smoothest results.
What To Expect
Once you’ve parked, and you’ve found my studio I’ll have a quick form for you to fill out (I’ll send you a link for fill it out online, but paper copies are also available) I’ll welcome you into my space, confirm our services for this appointment, and review your form.
From there I’ll let you know how to get ready, while you’re getting settled and onto the treatment bed I’ll be washing my hands and getting my gloves on. I’ll then get started, and we’ll chat about whatever, if you have any questions during the appointment you are more than welcome to ask away!
Once were finished I’ll go over aftercare, and let you put yourself back together all while I’m tidying up, spraying down my bed, etc to get ready for the next client. All that’s left now is payment and booking your next appointment!

Aftercare
Taking care of your freshly waxed skin is key to minimizing irritation, and preventing ingrowns. Here’s what to do, and what you should avoid:
Right After Your Wax:
- Keep it cool & calm – avoid excess heat and activity, this includes hot tubs, saunas, hot baths or showers, intense workouts, and intimacy.
- Hands off! – when removing the hair we’ve just created a bunch of open pockets in our skin, we want to avoid touching the area to prevent bacteria from entering those pockets.
- Skip the lotions – heavy creams, lotions, or fragrances can lead to unwanted irritation so let’s give our skin a day to calm down then you can continue your regular routine.
The Next Few Days
- Exfoliate – get back on your exfoliation routine 48 hours after your service, and keep up with it by exfoliating about 2-3 times a week with your choice of exfoliation. A good scrub, dry brush, or an exfoliating mitt work well, a loofah or wash cloth do not.
- Stay hydrated – exfoliation does dry out the skin a little so we need to add that hydration back in. Moisturized skin leads to moisturized hair and an easier wax.
- Avoid tight clothing – try to wear looser clothing for the first few days after your wax. Tight leggings, active wear or skinning jeans can lead to friction and irritation especially if you’ve had your legs, or any intimate waxing done.
Long Term Care
- Stay consistent – with waxing consistency is the name of the game. Regular waxing weakens the hair follicle with repeated removal. Aim to come back every 4-6 weeks, once we had a few waxes together I can better gauge when your best return window is.
- Keep up with exfoliation & hydration – again we’re all about consistency! Staying hydrated and keeping up with your exfoliation is the best way to prevent ingrown hairs and getting you the smoothest wax.
